International Training Activities in the U.S. Census Bureau Robert D. Bush Assistant Center Chief for International Assistance, International Programs Center, U.S. Census Bureau Since 1947, over 12,000 participants have been trained in either the long-term or short term training programs conducted by the U.S. Census Bureau, both in Washington, DC and abroad. Graduates of our programs work in over 120 countries to improve the collection, processing, and dissemination of statistical information. Many of these graduates have risen to positions of leadership, not only in their own country, but also in international agencies. Current training is focused on short-term courses on the practical aspects of census and survey operations. Six such workshops are included in the current training cycle which spans the period from May - October, 2000.
