Union Station is Chicago's Amtrack hub and is located on the south west side of the loop (downtown Chicago).

Here are three ways to get to Evanston:

  • Metra Rail UPN Line . Evanston is served by the Union Pacific/North Line. This Suburban train route departs from the Ogilvie Transportation Center (formerly known as the C & NW Station) located on the northwest corner of Madison/Canal which is just across the street from Union Station. Trains depart at :35 minutes past the hour from 10:00am to 5:00pm, and more frequently during rush hour. The fare is $2.75 and travel to the Davis Street stations is twenty minutes. Tickets can be purchased on the second floor of the Ogilvie Center at the agent booth
  • TAXI . Taxi stands can be found all around Union Station. There is no company that offers flat rates. Regular metered taxi service from Union Station should cost approximately $40.
  • Public Transportation The CTA is a very economical way to travel ($1.80 from downtown Chicago to Evanston). Board Bus 129 (West/South Loop) and exit at Van Buren and State Street. Walk two blocks north to the Jackson subway station. You will take the Red Line (Howard) to end of the line and transfer to the Evanston Purple Line. The Evanston stop is at Davis street. CTA schedules and Maps can be consulted for specific times.
